Madoka Walpurgisnacht film frame: the week-6 theater bonus for Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht: Rising (劇場版 魔法少女まどか☆マギカ〈ワルプルギスの廻天〉) is a strip of real 35mm film, handed out in Japan from 3 October 2026. By 7 October, Yahoo! Auctions Japan had logged nearly 700 related sales, and one frame sold on Mercari for ¥410,000. Here is why a few frames of film are worth that much, what a typical one sells for, and real sales from both ends of the range.
Key points
- The Madoka Walpurgisnacht film frame is five random frames of real 35mm film from the movie, handed out 3–9 October 2026. Which scene you get is luck; you cannot choose.
- Prices in the first five days on Yahoo! Auctions: about ¥2,200 sealed, a median of about ¥5,000 opened. About three in ten opened frames sold for ¥10,000 or more; the top one, Homura, sold on Mercari for ¥410,000.
- The picture sets the price. Homura, character close-ups and the title logo sell highest; frames showing only an object or a minor character can go for a few hundred yen.
What is the Madoka Walpurgisnacht film frame?

35mmフィルムコマ
- Dates: Sat 3 – Fri 9 Oct 2026, while stocks last
- Size: 35×95mm
- How: one per person per viewing, random, you cannot choose
The film frame is the week-6 theater bonus. Each piece is five consecutive frames of 35mm film, so what you hold is the movie itself.
Why the Madoka Walpurgisnacht film frame is special
- It is real film. Every other weekly bonus is printed. The film frame is 35mm stock developed from the movie’s own footage: a moment of the film you can hold, which no printed goods can stand in for.
- It is a lottery. You cannot see the scene when it is handed over. It might be a close-up of a lead, or just background. Fans in Japan post their pulls on X under #ワルプルギスの廻天フィルム選手権 (the “film championship”), and every good pull makes more people want one.
- It is a Madoka tradition. Film frames have become a fixture of the Madoka films. The frames from 2013’s Rebellion sold for remarkable sums (see below), so after about 13 years, long-time fans were waiting for this one.
- One week only, never sold. The frames are handed out only from 3 to 9 October, in limited numbers, until they run out. Miss them, and resale is the only route.

Which scenes are worth the most?
Character. Homura is the favourite: the top Mercari sale shows her, as do six of the seven highest Yahoo! sales.
Close-ups and movement. Face close-ups are the most sought after. When the expression or pose changes across the five frames, Japanese sellers flag it as 「コマ変化」.
Recognisable moments. A cut used in the official trailer, the title logo and the witch Walpurgisnacht all have collectors of their own.
No one you can name. Frames showing only an object, background or a minor character can sell for a few hundred yen.
The precedent: 2013’s Rebellion film frames
Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion also handed out film frames in 2013. Japanese site Otakuma Keizai Shimbun reported a frame showing the title logo bid up to ¥1.8 million on Yahoo! Auctions, with 268 bids and the auction still running, on the afternoon of 14 November 2013.
A Japanese blog that tracked sales at the time found the top sale was Madoka’s transformation scene, at ¥131,000; sealed frames went for about ¥1,000–2,000, and unclear scenes for about ¥100. The same split between a few big prices and many small ones was there thirteen years ago.

FAQ
How much is a Madoka Walpurgisnacht film frame worth?
On Yahoo! Auctions sales from 3–7 October 2026, about ¥2,200 sealed and a median of about ¥5,000 opened. Popular character close-ups reach tens of thousands of yen; the highest known sale was ¥410,000 on Mercari.
Why do the prices vary so much?
Because every piece shows a different scene. Homura, close-ups and the title logo are the most wanted; a frame of background or an object may be worth a few hundred yen.
Can I choose my film frame?
No. The official site says you cannot choose. To get a particular character or scene, the resale market is the only route.
Are the frames on Collect2Day genuine?
Collect2Day searches listings on Japanese resale platforms. Read each listing’s description and photos before you buy.
Looking for a Madoka Walpurgisnacht film frame?
