M6a “30th Celebration” Weekly Price Risers: Pikachu +51.5%, Shining Celebi and Rayquaza-EX

Dark cover: "M6a Weekly Price Risers", with the card art of Pikachu, Shining Celebi and Rayquaza-EX on the right.

This week (21–27 September 2026), three cards from “30th Celebration” (M6a) posted big jumps in their volume-weighted average price (VWAP) on Japan’s market: Pikachu +51.5%, Shining Celebi +23.1% and Rayquaza-EX +22.3%. But the samples behind those rises are very different — Pikachu had only 23 sales this week, Shining Celebi 153, and Rayquaza-EX the most at 174. The same kind of jump doesn’t carry the same weight each time, so it’s worth taking the three cards one by one.

TL;DR

  • The three biggest VWAP risers in M6a “30th Celebration” this week: Pikachu +51.5%, Shining Celebi +23.1%, Rayquaza-EX +22.3%.
  • Pikachu, the biggest riser, had only 23 sales this week — the thinnest sample; Rayquaza-EX (174 sales) and Shining Celebi (153 sales) are the more solid readings.
  • Raw medians: Pikachu lowest at ¥1,700, Rayquaza-EX in the middle at ¥3,200, Shining Celebi highest at ¥3,999.

How to Read This Price-Rise Chart

Up front: every price here is in Japanese yen, with no currency conversion, and each rise is a change in the volume-weighted average price (VWAP), not in the median. Each card’s table shows two columns — the comparison baseline on the left and this week on the right — with the sale count under each. The “raw median” in the card details is a separate reference price; the two shouldn’t be subtracted from each other.

How cards qualify: only raw (Raw/Ungraded) sales on Japan’s market count. This week’s VWAP is compared against a prior-4-week baseline, and both this week and the baseline must clear a minimum sale count. The rise is then bootstrapped to a 95% confidence interval, and its lower bound must exceed +15% for a card to make the list. Single outlier high sales are removed, and self-purchases through B4U/BSO are excluded. In other words, all three rises passed that filter — but the thinner the sample, the wider the real range of movement. The figures reflect actual sales only; they are not a price forecast.

Cards are ordered by rise, largest first. We start with Pikachu: the biggest rise, and the thinnest sample.

Why up / down / popular?

Pikachu (ピカチュウ) M6a 037/103 posted the biggest rise of the three: this week’s volume-weighted average price (VWAP) is ¥1,906, up +51.5% on the comparison baseline’s ¥1,258, with a raw median of ¥1,700. But that percentage rests on only 23 sales this week — the thinnest sample of the three. With so few sales, a handful of higher-priced ones is enough to lift the average, so +51.5% has a lot of room to move; a pullback or a further climb would both be unsurprising. One more detail: this week’s VWAP of ¥1,906 sits above the ¥1,700 median, meaning some higher-priced sales pulled the average up — go by the median when judging the price. As for the card itself, 037/103 sits inside 30th Celebration’s regular numbering, and Pikachu is the most symbolic character of the whole 30th-anniversary line-up — the first one most people think of when anniversaries come up. For a newer collector it’s close to the obvious first pick, and its ¥1,700 median is the lowest of the three, so the barrier to entry is lower too. Why up / down / popular?

Shining Celebi (ひかるセレビィ) M6a 141/103 has a raw median of ¥3,999 and a VWAP this week of ¥3,915, up +23.1% on the comparison baseline’s ¥3,179, across 153 sales this week. Set against Pikachu’s thin 23-sale sample, Celebi’s rise came through far more sales, so the reading is comparatively solid — it isn’t being held up by one or two outlier prices. Its appeal is the “Shining” (ひかる) line itself: the Shining series has long been one of the most recognisable special treatments in Pokémon card collecting, and Celebi — a Mythical Pokémon long associated with words like rare, limited and hidden — paired with that treatment gives long-time players both nostalgia and scarcity. Its number, 141/103, runs past the regular numbering into 30th Celebration’s special-number range. One more detail in the data: this week’s VWAP of ¥3,915 sits slightly below the ¥3,999 median, so sales are weighted a little below the midpoint — buyers aren’t chasing the price as hard as with Pikachu. Why up / down / popular?

Rayquaza-EX (レックウザEX) M6a 154/103 has a raw median of ¥3,200 and a VWAP this week of ¥3,351, up +22.3% on the comparison baseline’s ¥2,740, across 174 sales this week — the most of the three. It comes last because it has the thickest sample, so its +22.3% rise is the one least swayed by any single sale. On the character side, Rayquaza is close to an evergreen favourite across generations, known to original players and recent newcomers alike. 154/103 also sits in the special-number range beyond the regular numbering, and under the 30th-anniversary theme that has always drawn collector attention. The price detail is worth a look too: this week’s VWAP of ¥3,351 sits above the ¥3,200 median, so sales are weighted above the midpoint — the opposite of Shining Celebi’s slightly lower skew. Its median falls between Pikachu’s and Shining Celebi’s, which makes it the easiest slot to fill if you want all three; for actual buying prices, check Collect2Day directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pikachu is up +51.5% — does that make it the one to chase?

Not necessarily. +51.5% is the biggest rise of the three, but it came from only 23 sales this week, where a few higher-priced sales are enough to lift the average — and this week’s VWAP of ¥1,906 sits above the ¥1,700 median. On price alone, its median is the lowest of the three; if a dependable reading matters more, Rayquaza-EX with 174 sales and Shining Celebi with 153 sales are the more solid references.

What’s the difference between VWAP and the median?

VWAP is the average price weighted by sale volume, so a few high-priced sales can move it; the median is the middle sale once prices are lined up, so it’s less affected by extremes. This week, Pikachu’s and Rayquaza-EX’s VWAP both sit above their medians, while Shining Celebi’s sits slightly below.

Which of the three is cheapest?

By raw median, Pikachu is lowest at ¥1,700, Rayquaza-EX is in the middle at ¥3,200 and Shining Celebi is highest at ¥3,999. Live listing prices can differ from sale medians, so check the Collect2Day page before you buy.
