You find a card on Mercari, another on Yahoo Auctions Japan, and a third on eBay. Handled separately that means three accounts, three checkouts, three foreign-currency charges and three parcels arriving on three different days. Collect2Day’s cross-platform cart lets you put fixed-price items from all of them in one cart, pay once in your own currency, and have them consolidated at the Hong Kong warehouse before delivery.
This guide covers how it actually works, what each line on the checkout screen means, and the two limits worth knowing before you start โ auction items can never share an order with fixed-price items, and adding something to your cart does not reserve it.
The short version
- Fixed-price items from Mercari, JDirectItems, eBay and TCG Card Hub go in one cart, check out once, are charged in your local currency, and are consolidated at the Hong Kong warehouse.
- What decides whether items can share an order is the listing type, not the marketplace: a bid order holds exactly one item, so an auction lot always checks out on its own โ and stays a separate order even after you win it.
- Shipping is a flat rate set by your delivery region, not by weight or volume. The handling fee is charged per item, at a rate your region sets.
What’s in this guide
What a “unified cart” actually unifies
It is easy to read this as a convenience feature. What it really changes is the cost structure: you place one order with Collect2Day rather than separate orders with several overseas sellers.
The order is settled in your own currency, so there is no exchange rate for you to work out. But your card issuer may still charge a cross-border transaction fee โ that charge is your bank’s, not Collect2Day’s, and the terms are your issuer’s to confirm. What the unified cart changes here is the number of transactions: ordering separately from several sellers creates several, this creates one.
Auction lots still need their own order, and because the items come from different sellers they reach the Hong Kong warehouse at different times, so an order can ship in more than one batch. Each has a section below. They are the real cost of consolidating across marketplaces, and they are much easier to plan around before checkout than after.
Search, and compare across marketplaces
Type a keyword into the search bar in the app or on the web and the results span the sources below. The same item often has listings on more than one of them at meaningfully different prices, so it is worth reading the whole result set before adding the first one you see.
| Source | Listing types | How the price is shown |
|---|---|---|
| Mercari Japan | Fixed price | Item price; domestic Japanese shipping varies by seller |
| JDirectItems Yahoo Auctions Japan | Both fixed price and auction | Fixed-price listings show the asking price; auctions show the current bid |
| eBay United States | Fixed price | Already includes US domestic shipping, shown as one combined figure |
| TCG Card Hub Collect2Day’s own marketplace | Fixed price, brand new | Item price |
This is the single easiest thing to get wrong. JDirectItems carries both fixed-price and auction listings: the first can share an order with your Mercari and eBay items, the second cannot. So the thing to check is the type on the product page, not the logo next to it. There is a full section on auctions below.
An eBay price is a combined figure โ the item plus its US domestic shipping โ not the item alone; tap the price for the breakdown. Mercari’s domestic shipping, by contrast, varies by seller. The two are quoted on different bases, so comparing the numbers directly will give you the wrong answer.
Titles, descriptions and condition notes come from the source marketplace in Japanese or English and are machine-translated into your language as you browse. Where a translated phrase reads ambiguously, check it against the photos.
Check three things before you add anything
Before tapping add to cart, confirm all three:
- 1The condition description
This matters most on used items. Common Japanese phrases describe very different things โ ็พๅ (excellent), ็ฎ็ซใฃใๅทใๆฑใใชใ (no notable scratches or marks), ่จณใใ (flawed) โ and used items carry their own return terms.
- 2The source marketplace
Every listing shows where it came from. It tells you which return terms apply, and it affects timing later: an order containing eBay items waits longer for consolidation.
- 3The listing type
This is what decides whether the item can share an order. Fixed-price listings go straight into the cart; auction lots need a bid and must be ordered on their own. Both types appear on the same marketplace, so read the listing rather than the logo.
Add to cart, across marketplaces and sellers
Once you are satisfied, add the item. Repeat it as often as you like: fixed-price items from different sellers on different marketplaces all go into the same cart, with no app-switching and no separate checkouts. Items in the cart are individually selectable, so you do not have to buy everything at once โ add now, and choose what to check out later.

How many items one order can hold
The cap is set by where you are having it delivered, not by how many marketplaces the items came from:
| Delivery region | Items per order |
|---|---|
| Hong Kong, Macau | 20 |
| Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines | 10 |
Above the cap you will need to split the purchase across more than one order. Note that shipping is charged per order, so splitting means a second shipping fee.
In the app, under Settings, “Ship to” is your delivery region. It also determines the currency you are quoted and the fees you are charged, and it is the step new users skip most often โ full walkthrough in How to sign up for Collect2Day.
The exception: auction lots cannot share an order
This is the limit worth understanding before anything else. Collect2Day has two separate kinds of order โ not one order that can hold two kinds of item:
| Order type | Items it can hold | How it completes |
|---|---|---|
| Standard order fixed-price items | 20 in Hong Kong and Macau; 10 elsewhere | Checking out places the order |
| Bid order auction lots | Exactly 1 | You bid and wait for the auction to close. The final price may differ from the current bid, and you may not win at all |
“Checking out an auction lot together with fixed-price items saves on shipping” โ on Collect2Day you cannot. A bid order holds exactly one item, so an auction lot is always a separate checkout. There is no option to combine them to share a shipping fee.
Three rules to know before bidding
- 1Only auctions ending within 5 days can be bid on
This follows from how the payment hold works: an authorisation can only be held for so long, so a lot closing further out could not be charged before it lapsed.
- 2A bid cannot be edited
To raise your maximum you create a new bid order; the previous one is released as soon as the new one is confirmed.
- 3If you do not win, you are refunded
Being outbid or the lot closing without a winner starts the refund immediately, and any coupon you applied returns to your account.
The bid order automatically becomes a standard order and joins exactly the same fulfilment path as your fixed-price purchases. It remains a separate order, though โ so its shipping, consolidation and delivery are all calculated on their own and will not be merged with your fixed-price order.
Adding to your cart does not reserve anything
Almost everything collectible on Mercari and Yahoo Auctions is a one-of-a-kind used item. Putting it in your cart does not hold it for you. If the seller sells, delists or withdraws it before you check out, that line simply cannot be ordered.
What to do about it
- If you have found the right item at a fair price, do not park it in the cart to think about it
- Sought-after items โ high-grade PSA cards especially โ turn over fast, and hesitating is rarely free
- Clear out items you no longer want, so checkout is not a pile-up of unavailable lines
- Turn on app notifications so you hear about order and item changes first
Most retail runs on restockable inventory, where the same product can be sold to many buyers. The collectibles market is one item, one buyer โ which makes speed itself an advantage.
Four things to check before you pay
Once an order is paid and confirmed, you cannot cancel it yourself. An unpaid order can be cancelled from the order detail screen; a paid one cannot. (The delivery address is the exception โ it stays editable after payment, right up until the final delivery leg begins.) A minute of checking buys you the step that has no undo.
On the checkout screen, resist tapping straight through. Go line by line:
- 1Items and quantities
Check each name, edition and quantity. The classic collectibles trap is “same name, different version” โ the same card in a different set code, or a Japanese printing where you wanted the English one.
- 2Condition
Re-read the condition notes and photos on used items. Used goods carry specific return terms, and there is limited room to act once the item has arrived.
- 3The cost breakdown
Checkout itemises the charges, all in your own currency, so there is no exchange rate for you to work out. Each line is explained below.
- 4Delivery details
Recipient name, contact number and the full address โ building, floor, unit. Incomplete address details are the most common cause of delay.
The checkout order summary, line by line
The order summary at the bottom of checkout lists the following, all in your region’s currency:

| Line in the summary | How it is calculated |
|---|---|
| Items total | The selected items added up. eBay prices already include US domestic shipping. |
| Shipping fee | A flat rate set by your delivery region โ not by weight or volume. It is reduced automatically once the order reaches a threshold, and when it reaches zero the line reads “Free shipping” rather than $0. The current threshold is shown at the bottom of the cart. |
| Handling fee | Charged per item, and checkout prints the per-item rate in the label itself (for example “Handling fee (10 per Item)”), multiplied by the number of items. The rate is set by your delivery region, so it differs from market to market. |
| Coupon | One coupon per order. A coupon does not reduce the handling fee. |
| Tax | Appears only in some delivery regions. Hong Kong members are not charged tax, so the line does not appear on a Hong Kong checkout at all. |
Collect2Day cannot reliably get an item’s weight or dimensions from the source marketplaces, so shipping is a flat regional rate instead of a per-parcel calculation. For a multi-item order that usually works in your favour: within the item cap, one more item does not raise the shipping fee โ though it does raise the handling fee, which is per item.
After checkout: order status and real timings
Once payment goes through, the order runs through the stages below automatically. You do not need to do anything after checkout.
The five order statuses you see in the app
The order detail screen shows the current status and when it last changed. “Order in Progress” covers by far the longest stretch, and is the one most often mistaken for a stuck order:
- 1Order Created
The order exists and is awaiting payment.
- 2Order Confirmed
Payment is authorised and buying starts on your behalf.
- 3Order in Progress
Covers the seller dispatching, arrival at the Japanese or US warehouse, transfer to the Hong Kong warehouse, and inbound sorting. This is the long one; sitting here does not mean anything is wrong.
- 4Shipment in Progress
The Hong Kong warehouse has consolidated and packed the order and the courier has collected it.
- 5Order Completed
Delivered to your address.

Each item also carries its own progress
Alongside the order’s overall status, every item in the list has its own progress label โ “Oversea Warehouse Received”, for example. This is exactly why one order can arrive in more than one delivery: while the order as a whole reads “Order in Progress”, the individual items have reached different points. To find out which one is holding things up, the label under each item tells you more than the order status does.
“Track”, at the top right of the order detail, lists every milestone with its timestamp, newest first, and is available from “Order Confirmed” onwards. The same screen offers “Download Receipt”, and “Update address” up until the final delivery leg begins. Tracking history is kept for six months from the order date, after which the Track button is hidden.
How long it takes
| Stage | Typical duration |
|---|---|
| Seller ships to the Japan warehouse | 1โ7 business days |
| Seller ships to the US warehouse | 3โ14 days |
| Japan warehouse to Hong Kong warehouse | 4โ6 business days |
| US warehouse to Hong Kong warehouse | 5โ8 days |
| Processing at the Hong Kong hub | 1โ3 business days |
| Final delivery โ Hong Kong, Macau | 2โ3 business days |
| Final delivery โ Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines | 4โ7 business days |
Both overseas warehouses dispatch five times a week, Tuesday to Saturday Hong Kong time, and tracking usually updates the following day. Japan-sourced items run about 10 to 20 business days end to end; both US legs are longer, so an order holding items from both follows the slower of the two. Customs inspection and flight scheduling affect the real figure, and public holidays in Japan, the US or your own market โ along with peak sale periods such as 11.11 and Black Friday โ extend it.
Why one order can arrive in more than one delivery
The items come from different sellers who dispatch at different speeds, so they reach the Hong Kong warehouse at different times. Consolidation is decided at the Hong Kong warehouse โ not overseas โ by three rules:
- 1Everything has arrived
All items in the order are at the Hong Kong warehouse; it consolidates and ships straight away.
- 2Fourteen days have passed
If an item has been waiting at the Hong Kong warehouse for 14 days, whatever has arrived ships now and the rest follows.
- 3Then every seven days
Anything arriving after that is sent on a seven-day cycle.
In other words a split delivery is normal, not a fault. The point of the rules is that one slow seller cannot keep the rest of your order waiting indefinitely.
For an order containing both Japanese items (Mercari, Yahoo Auctions) and US items (eBay), the fourteen-day rule above becomes twenty-three days. This is the real cost of consolidating widely: the more you combine, the longer the wait for everything to gather. If you want the Japanese items sooner, order the eBay items separately.
Four mistakes new users make
| Mistake | What happens | Instead |
|---|---|---|
| Leaving items parked in the cart | The seller sells or delists it and that line fails at checkout | If you have decided to buy, check out promptly |
| Not reading the condition notes on used items | The item arrives different from what you pictured, and used goods have their own return terms | Read the condition text and photos on every line, not just the title |
| Assuming an auction lot can check out with fixed-price items | You discover at checkout that it has to be separate, and your shipping estimate no longer holds | Order the auction lot on its own first, then the fixed-price items |
| Putting an eBay item in the order without allowing for the wait | The consolidation wait stretches from 14 days to 23, and the Japanese items wait too | If you are in a hurry, order the eBay items separately |
Frequently asked questions
Can I put Mercari, JDirectItems and eBay items in the same cart?
Fixed-price items, yes. Items from Mercari, JDirectItems, eBay and TCG Card Hub all go into one cart and check out together, with no app-switching and no separate payments. The exception is auction lots โ a bid order holds exactly one item and must be checked out on its own. Note that JDirectItems carries both types, so what matters is the listing, not the marketplace.
How is shipping calculated when items come from different sellers?
Shipping is a flat rate set by your delivery region, with no weight or volume component. So within the item cap, adding one more item to the same order does not increase it โ and once the order value passes a threshold the fee is reduced automatically, showing as “Free shipping” when it reaches zero. The handling fee is per item, though, so an extra item does raise that.
Does adding something to my cart reserve it?
No. Collectibles on Mercari and Yahoo Auctions are mostly one-of-a-kind used items, and adding one to your cart does not hold it. If the seller sells or delists it before you check out, that line cannot be ordered.
How many items can one order hold?
20 for Hong Kong and Macau, 10 for Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. The cap follows your delivery region and is unrelated to how many marketplaces the items came from. Above it, split the purchase across separate orders.
Do I need yen? Will I be charged a cross-border transaction fee?
You do not need yen โ the order is settled in your own region’s currency, with no exchange rate for you to handle. But your card issuer may still charge a cross-border transaction fee. That is your bank’s charge rather than Collect2Day’s, it does not appear in the checkout order summary, and the terms are your issuer’s to confirm. What the unified cart changes is the number of transactions: ordering separately from several sellers creates several, this creates one.
Can an auction lot check out together with fixed-price items?
No. A bid order is a distinct order type holding exactly one item. This is a system limit, not a recommendation. When you win, it converts to a standard order on the same fulfilment path โ but it stays a separate order, with its own shipping and its own delivery.
Will items from one order arrive separately?
They can, and it is normal. If everything arrives together it consolidates and ships at once; if an item has waited 14 days at the Hong Kong warehouse, what has arrived ships and the rest follows on a seven-day cycle. For an order containing both Japanese and US (eBay) items that wait extends to 23 days.
Can I cancel after paying?
Not yourself. An unpaid order can be cancelled from the order detail screen. The delivery address is the exception โ it stays editable after payment until the final delivery leg starts.
Can I change my bid after placing it?
Not directly. To raise your maximum you create a new bid order, and the previous one is released once the new one is confirmed. Note too that only auctions ending within five days can be bid on.
Next: build your first cross-platform order
The value of a unified cart is not really convenience โ it is that cross-border buying stops being several parallel processes and becomes one: a single account, one checkout, one currency, one consolidated delivery, one place to track it. The cost is the two limits this guide covered: auctions order separately, and the wider you consolidate the longer the wait. Both are easy to plan around.
For a collector the practical gain is that your attention goes back to whether an item is worth buying, instead of to accounts, exchange rates and shipping arithmetic.
