Affordable PSA 10 Pokemon Cards: 6 Picks Under ¥15,000 (Late September 2026)

Dark cover: "Affordable PSA 10, 6 Picks From Japan", with the 6 ranked cards' art, Pikachu AR to Mega Charizard Y ex.

Plenty of people assume graded cards cost a small fortune to get into. But Japan’s sales data this week says a PSA 10 isn’t necessarily expensive: we picked six cards with PSA 10 sales, and every one has a PSA 10 median under ¥15,000 (lowest ¥10,800, highest ¥14,000) — genuine entry-level graded cards. At the end we’ve added one watch card that has no PSA 10 reference price yet, which isn’t counted in the ranking.

TL;DR

  • 6 entry-level Pokemon cards with a PSA 10 median under ¥15,000 in Japan’s market — from ¥10,800 (Mega Latias ex SAR) to ¥14,000 (Charmander AR) — tracked 21–27 September 2026.
  • Pikachu AR (#1) logged 41 sales at PSA 10 this week, the thickest sample here — but its data is listed as the Chinese edition and doesn’t match the Japanese card shown, so treat it as a reference only.
  • Watch card Magikarp logged 261 sales ungraded this week at a ¥8,000 median, but has no PSA 10 reference price yet, so it isn’t ranked.

Before you buy a graded card, read the numbers right

Two things up front: every price here is in Japanese yen, with no currency conversion; and every figure is a median of completed sales, not the asking prices you’ll see online right now. For each card we set the PSA 10 price against the raw price to see where the premium comes from: scarcity, the card’s origin, or condition risk.

How to read it: in either the PSA 10 or the raw column, any week with fewer than 10 sales counts as a small sample — the median is a rough reference only, and even a week-on-week move shouldn’t be read as a trend. For PSA 10, we don’t show the week-on-week figure at all in that case. If you’re buying, take your time comparing prices on Collect2Day. We start with Pikachu AR: the thickest PSA 10 sample, but with a data source still to be confirmed.

This ranking is built from actual sale records in Japan’s market, tracked 21–27 September 2026 (HKT). To qualify, a card needs a PSA 10 median at or under ¥15,000, at least 3 sales at PSA 10 over the past 4 weeks, and matching raw sale records to compare the grading premium against. Ranking is by 4-week cumulative sale volume multiplied by price increase, with the increase capped at +30% so a single hype spike can’t dominate; “raw” includes Raw/Ungraded grades, and self-purchases through B4U/BSO are excluded. The figures reflect actual sales only — they are not a price forecast.

Why up / down / popular?

Pikachu AR (ピカチュウ AR) logged 41 sales at PSA 10 this week — the thickest PSA 10 sample in this post. But one data problem has to come first: the source listing behind this price series names the card as the Chinese-language edition (【中国語版】, numbered 173/151), while the image, set and card number shown here are the Japanese SV2a 173/165. The two don’t match, so it isn’t yet confirmed whether those 41 sales are of Japanese or Chinese copies. Treat the figures below as a reference for the same card line only, not as a like-for-like grading premium against the Japanese raw price. The figures themselves: PSA 10 median ¥13,000, +43.7% week on week; raw median ¥4,900, +1.8% week on week, but from only 3 sales — a small sample, so ¥4,900 is already a rough figure. One more thing: the PSA 10 VWAP is ¥19,249, well above the ¥13,000 median, meaning a few high-priced sales are pulling the average up. Go by the median when judging the price.

Why up / down / popular?

Pokémon Card 151 has been out for a while, and Charmander AR (ヒトカゲ AR) held very steady at PSA 10 this week: median ¥14,000, VWAP ¥14,082, just +0.5% week on week, across 17 sales — one of the few cards in this post above 10 sales, so its price carries more weight. On the raw side, the median is ¥4,400, down 10.2% on the previous week, but from only 4 sales, a small sample. That drop may simply be the spread between a handful of copies rather than evidence that supply is weakening; the most we can say is that raw prices look soft right now, and the sample is too thin to tell whether that’s more supply or scattered sellers. In other words, the grading premium between ¥4,400 and ¥14,000 is being held up mainly by the graded side. AR cards are full-art, so edges and surfaces show flaws easily and raw copies vary in condition — buyers would rather pay more for a slabbed copy confirmed as a 10. The character helps too: Charmander is the most consistently collected of the starter lines, and its full-art AR has long had a following. It has the highest PSA 10 median in this batch, but still sits under ¥15,000.

Why up / down / popular?

Mega Kangaskhan ex SAR (メガガルーラex SAR) shows a different pattern for a new set. Mega Symphonia (メガシンフォニア) hasn’t been out long, and its raw median is already down at ¥2,800 (7 sales, -9.8% week on week — again fewer than 10 sales, a small sample, so treat it as a reference only). Heavy pack opening naturally puts raw prices under pressure; yet the PSA 10 median holds at ¥12,500, the widest gap between the two in this post. The most common explanation for this shape in a new set is that the cards have only just entered the grading pipeline and few 10s are circulating yet — but we have no submission data, so treat that as a guess, not a conclusion. Its PSA 10 side also has only 7 sales, a small sample: the median is a rough reference only, and no week-on-week figure is shown for that reason. The Mega Evolution theme is hot right now, and Kangaskhan is an original-generation character — together those hold up this price.

Why up / down / popular?

From the same set, Mega Latias ex SAR (メガラティアスex SAR) has the lowest PSA 10 median in this batch: ¥10,800, the lowest barrier to entry. Interestingly, it’s moving the opposite way to Kangaskhan above — raw median ¥2,999, 11 sales, +4.9% week on week, so the raw side isn’t sliding at all but slowly edging up. Among the ranked cards it’s also the only raw sample above 10 sales, which makes it comparatively solid and suggests Latias has a long-standing fan base rather than being propped up by pack-opening volume alone. Note that PSA 10 has only 7 sales — a small sample, with no week-on-week figure shown — so read ¥10,800 as a reference range, not a fixed price. If you want to try a graded card on the smallest budget, this one has the lowest entry point here.

Why up / down / popular?

Jolteon ex SAR (サンダースex SAR) has the narrowest grading premium in this post: raw median ¥6,000, PSA 10 median ¥11,800 — a far smaller gap than Kangaskhan’s or Latias’s above. The usual explanation is that it’s an SAR from the high-class pack Terastal Festival ex (テラスタルフェスex), hard to pull, so the raw price already sits at ¥6,000 and there’s less room for grading to add on top. Put another way, with this card you’re mainly paying for scarcity, not for certainty about condition. The Eevee family is an evergreen collecting theme across generations, which is part of why it has steady demand underneath. On the data: 13 sales at PSA 10, +4.1% week on week, and a VWAP of ¥11,981 barely different from the median — sale prices are tightly clustered, with no outlier high sales propping up the average. One caveat: the raw column has only 4 sales (+0.7% week on week), a small sample, so treat ¥6,000 as a rough level.

Why up / down / popular?

Mega Charizard Y ex, mirror version (メガリザードンYex ミラー), stands out for where it comes from. It isn’t a booster-pack card: it comes from Start Deck 100 Battle Collection, distributed through randomised decks, so it circulates differently from a typical SAR (how the mirror version is actually distributed isn’t published officially, so we won’t treat it as fact). The data is thin too: the raw side has only 2 sales with a median of ¥3,000 — really just a ballpark — and PSA 10 has 8 sales with a median of ¥12,500, also a small sample, so no week-on-week figure is shown. Charizard is about as strong a flagship character as there is, and the Mega Y form plus the mirror finish keep it supported at this PSA 10 price. It suits collectors who like cards with an unusual origin, but before buying, accept that the sample is thin and the price will jump around.

Finally, the watch card mentioned at the start: Magikarp (コイキング) from 30th Celebration. It has no PSA 10 sales data, so it isn’t part of the “PSA 10 median under ¥15,000” ranking above — but it’s worth a mention. It logged 261 sales ungraded this week, the most of any card in this post (to be clear: the thickest PSA 10 sample is Pikachu’s 41 sales — that’s a different column, so don’t mix the two up), with a median of ¥8,000, a VWAP of ¥8,157 and +17.3% week on week. It’s also the only genuinely deep raw sample in this post; volume that heavy means the market has just opened a lot of packs and raw copies are still changing hands fast. But there’s no graded row for it here: there aren’t yet enough PSA 10 sales to show one, which means the graded market hasn’t formed and there’s no reliable PSA 10 reference price yet. That makes it well worth a place on a watchlist — the raw price is already at ¥8,000, and the grading-premium story will only become clear as graded copies start to appear. Magikarp also carries 30th-anniversary buzz, so heavy trading isn’t hard to understand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can the same card’s raw and PSA 10 prices be so far apart?

The grading premium is the value of having condition officially confirmed, and how big it is depends on the card. The widest gap this week is Mega Kangaskhan ex SAR: a raw median of ¥2,800 against a PSA 10 median of ¥12,500, with heavy pack opening in a new set pushing the raw price down. The narrowest is Jolteon ex SAR: ¥6,000 raw against ¥11,800 at PSA 10, because it’s hard to pull, so the raw price is already high and grading has less room to add.

On a tight budget, which card should I look at first?

On entry price alone, Mega Latias ex SAR’s ¥10,800 PSA 10 median is the lowest here, but it has only 7 sales at PSA 10, so read that price as a range. If a dependable price matters more, Charmander AR and Jolteon ex SAR have 17 sales and 13 sales at PSA 10 respectively, making them the more solid references.

Can I rely on Pikachu AR’s figures?

As a reference only. Its 41 sales at PSA 10 are the most in this post, but the source data lists the card as the Chinese edition (151C 173/151), which doesn’t match the Japanese image and number shown here (SV2a 173/165) — so it isn’t yet confirmed which edition those sales were. Before buying, check whether the seller is offering the Japanese or the Chinese edition.
